Summary or Abstract : Performance on reading comprehension tests is affected by a wide variety of factors and understanding of these factors and how they affect test scores is fundamental to the development and use of reading comprehension tests. One of the problems is the effect of test method on test taker's performance on reading comprehension test. The other problems deal with those attributes of individual that are not related to language ability. The attributes include individual characteristics such as field dependence independence cognitive style and group characteristics such as sex. The shed light on the points, the present study aimed at answering the following four research questions: 1. Do test method such as multiple - choice, open ended and true / false used for measuring reading comprehension affect test takers' performance on reading comprehension tests differently? 2. Does test takers' field dependence - in dependence cognitive style affect their performance on reading comprehension tests? 3. To what extent, do test takers' sexes affect their performance on reading comprehension tests? 4. What is the interaction between the variables?.
