Summary or Abstract : In this way the present study was carried out, first to investigate the possible effects of metacognitive knowledge including the reader's perception of effective strategies ( what the reader does to read more effectively repair strategies(what the reader does when something cannot be understood in the text), and reading difficulties on EFL text comprehension and recall, the second purpose was to determine the relationship between reading comprehension and recall tasks as two measures of reading ability. The results suggest that: a) the readers' perception of the effective strategies could not affect their performance in reading comprehension and recall. bebetter readers in both reading comprehension and recall perceived much less difficulties in their reading, c awareness of repair strategies could significantly determine the readers' achevement in reading comprehension but it did not influence the amount of information recalled from the text. The resuls revealed that no significant correlation existed between the reading comprehension and the recall task..
