Summary or Abstract : This research was conducted in order to determine the impacts of prereading strategies,i.e, preteaching of vocabulary along with text previewing on reading comprehension of Iranian ESP readers. In other words, the attempt was to find reasonable answers to the following questions: 1.Can prereading activities increase the level of comprehension? 2.Can prereading activities increase the level of comprehension? The results indicate that efficient comprehension requires effective activiting of the learner's background knowledge. In other words, the reader's schemata should be tapped on prior to the reading. If the prereading activities are employed efficiently, learning how to read will seem pretty easy..
