The current research focuses on the variability in color labelling by different speakers.The main purpose of this research is to study the semantic field of color adjectives in English and Persian. The research was conducted on the subjects of different social backgrounds. Informants were presented with the color chart and they were asked to write down the appropriate term for each color in their native languags. The responses were classified and tabulated to determine the effects of age, level of education and sex on color naming. The results indicated that women were more precise in color naming. The finding also revealed that white and black had the highest frequency in the mentioned languages..
