Summary or Abstract : The present study aimed at the identification of the following problems: A. What is the relationship between self - esteem and second Language proficiency? B. What is the relationship between self - esteem and Second language achievement? C. If any reltionship could be found, which one, second Language preficiency or second Language achievement is correlated with self - esteem significantly? Accordingly, three null hypotheses were developed.It should be mentioned that the subject of this study were 60 junior students majoring in English. The results of the first t - test showed that there was a significant relationship between self - esteem and second Language proficiency. The results of the second t - test also showed that there was a significant relationship between self - esteem and achievement in second language. To test the third null hypotheses, the researcher applied a multiple regression using stepwise method. The result showed that there were significant relationships between self - esteem. Second language proficiency and second Language achievement. Moreover, the highest correlation was found between second Language achievement and self - esteem. Therefore, the null hypothesis was also rejected..
