Summary or Abstract : This study investigated the differences in validity, reliability, and students performance on three cloze passages with varing difficulty levels. To achieve this end, different steps were involved. The research questions had to be developed, suitable cloze passages had to be selected, adequate number of subjects to whom the experimental test were to be administered had to be found, and finally the approprite statistical analyses had to be performed. The main research questions relevant to this study dealth with the following issues:1.The statistical characteristics of the study measurea. 2.The degree of correspondence between the students performance on the three cloze passages and the total and subparts of the TOEFL. 3. The underlying factors that the three cloze tests and the TOEFL may assess. 4. The possible differences between the means of three constructed cloze tests. The results showed that text difficulty is an important variable influencing the performance of the subjects. This variable was significant on each of three cloze passages. levels to the same subjects does not guarantee the achievement of similar results..
