Summary or Abstract : On the basis of many studies researches on foreign language learning, it can be claimed that most learners experience great difficulty in reading and comprehending a text in a foreign language in general, and academic and real - life situations an particular. This holds true even when learners possess a considerable amount of linguistic Knowledge. The present study centered around the following research questions: 1. Is there any significant difference between the performance of subjects exposed to scaning skill and those deprived of such skill? 2. Is there any match or relationship between the performance of subjects on academic and advertisement / newspaper texts and the scanning skill? Accordingly, the following null - hypotheses were proposed: 1. There is no significant difference between the performance of subjects exposed to scanning skill and those deprived of it. 2.There is no match or relationship between the performance of subjecs on academic and advertisment / newspaper texts and the scanning skill. The results of the Scheffe test indicate the differeces between control group experimental groups, and control group vs. experimental groups, Therefore the second null - hypothesis which was rejected earlier, was rejacted once again by observing the differences after each comparison..
