Summary or Abstract : "Presenting a list of conjunction to the students can be misleading, for fail to understand that the most important characteristicof cohession is the fact that it doesnot constitutea class of items but rather a set of relations".The defects or disadvantages of traditional methods in teaching conjunctions: 1. Presenting a list of cohesive devices categorized according to meaning. 2. These lists do not demonstrate how cohesive devices establish the logical relationship between the presented ideas. 3. The multifunctional devices can not be presented in a single list. 4. Lack of context makes the procedure artificial. 5. Devices categorized in a group are not interchangeable.The precent study has focused on a new instructional approach conjunctions proposed by other researchers. The conjunctions were tried to be contextualized in this experiment. The students were made conciously aware of the from and implication of conjunctions specially by resorting to the available reasoures of their mother tongue whenever necessary. Different kinds of drills and exercises such as filling in the blanks, joining sentences or combining pairs of sentences or ordering the scrambeld sentences were employed. The result of the statistical procedure proved that explanation, exercises and awarness of the from and implications of conjunctions in the source and the target language have a significant role on the improvement of students in using appropriate conjunctions in their writings. It proved that this approach will lead to more coherent writings..
