Summary or Abstract : Few writers and dramatists have sufferd more than Christopher Marlowe from a tendentious interpretation of the relation between his life and writings. For good or ill, a great deal is known about Christopher Marlowe than any other dramatist of Elizabethan age. Facts about him involving quarrels , imprisonment ,espionage , sudden death and fair variety a colourful ideas and practices , together with the theories based on them , have had a notable effect on the way he is read. Most readers have come to the texts with some prior knowledge about him in such a way that the image of his character is imposed on the words he wrote. Having a picture of Marlowe as rebellious in spirit and turbulent in life , many critics are inclined to suppose that Marlowe created his heroes in his own image or at least he is involved with them. In their considerations Marlowe appears as one of the most highly subjective playwrights of his age who disclosed in his work the major processes of his mind and emotion..
