Summary or Abstract : This study is carried two parts: a qualitative and a quantitative a part. In the quantitative part two hypotheses were shaped at the outset: 1. There is no difference in the distribution of display and referntial questions. 2. Referential questions create more interaction in the classroom than display questions do. The qualitative part of the study followed no predetermined line of search. Rather, efforts were made to observe and keep a record of recurring patterns of EFL teacher's questioning behavior, as well as patterns of classroom of Interaction - if any. Non - participant observation was used as a means for data collection. About forty hours of Reading Comprehension classes were observed. The observed data were subjected to statistical analysis - chi - square and t - test. Statistical analysis proved the first hypothesis to be rejected, and the second one to be confirmed. However, qualitative findings of the study proved the second hypothesis to be modified. Also, current patterns of EFL teacher's questioning behavior and classroom interaction patterns are reported in the original study..
