The experiment was carried out in three phases. In the first phase, a Michigan test of English Language proficiency was administered to 145 English translation freshmen among whom 110 subjects were asked to write a story in English based on a picture. After writing the story In Persian. Afterwards all the subjects were given a to determine their degree of Field Dependence. According two groups of thirty subjects, one FD and the other F1 were selected. The final phase of the study was conducted in the following week. Here the subjects were asked to translate their Persian compositions into English and their English versions into Persian. Thus, any dispartiy between them could be attributed to the use of one or the other communication strategies. The result indicated that the FD indicated that the FD group favored achievement strategies and F1 group favored reduction strategies. In fact, F1 interlanguage users prefer not to take risks in communicating in a foreign language. That is why they resort to reduction strategies..
