Summary or Abstract : In order to probe into the popular notion that famales hold the advantage in verbal skills such as emergence, articulation, and fluency, the following null hypothesis was formulated: 1. There is no relation ship between the subjects' Gender and their pronunciation achievement. In this study, two groups of subjects, 17 males And 30 females, were randomly chosen. As far as possible care was taken so that both group to be of the same age, ranging from 18 to 22 years old. Then both groups were given a pretest. Then after a seven - intensive - sessions of instruction on pronuncaition they were given the pottest. Then for the rating procedure, two independent ratters, one native speakers And a non - native speakers, were asked to do the rating separately. It is helpful to see how these tests correlated with each other. The Pearson - Product Moment formula was used to compute the correlation coefficient between the two raters. The average of the two raters' scores in pretests And posttests of each subject were computed. Then the pretest score of each subject was subtracted from his/ her posttest. As a result, the obtained score was considered as his / her possible score. The significat difference is in favor of male subjects..
