Summary or Abstract : Reading is a process involving the activation of relevant knowledge and related language skills to accomplish an exchange of information from one person to another. Reading is not a passive skill, rather it requires active mental processing for communicatin to occur. As for the objective of the present study, it tried to investigate whether grammatical C - R has any effect on the reading comprehension of Iranian pre - university students. Thus, the following null hypothesis was proposed: Grammatical C - R has no significant impact on the reading comprehension of Iranian , pre - university students. The results of this study indicate that grammatical C - R (especially Rutherford's method) is one appropriate way of dealing syntactic complications in EFL reading..
