Summary or Abstract : The present study is an attempt to explore the relationship between interpretation, manipulation and translation from a post - structural perspective. In this study interpretation is defined as show one reads a text and makes sense of it and what reading one deliberately chooses for or unconsciously assign to a text under the influence of social determinants. Manipulation is also defined as the deliberate or unconscious altering and controlling of the source text concepts for ideological reasons. This study is made up of two sections. The first section deals with theoretical descussions of interpretation, text, meaning, and manipulation. Seeing all translation as interpretation, it studies interpretation from a critical discourse analysis(CDA) perspective and examines it as a social and ideologically loaded process. The results of the survey demonstrate that the major manipulative shifts in translation include lexical and syntactic choices, and omissions. The results also verify manipulation is an ideologically motivated interpretive strategy, and therefore a translation - specific strategy as well..
