Summary or Abstract : This study investigated the different in validity, reliability, and students' performance on four C - test texts with varing difficulty levels. The experimental sample was taken from among junior EFL Iranian university students in Tehran. In addition, the subjects were required to take the test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) as the criterion measure for validity studies, one week after they had taken the C - test. The main research questions of this study dealt with the following issues: 1. the statistical characteristics of the study C - test texts. 2. The degree of correspondence between the students' performance on each C - test and the whole C - test on the one hand and these and total as well as the subparts of TOEFL on the other hand. 3. The possible differences between the means of the four C - test texts. The result indicated that there were no significant different in the magnitude of correlation coeffficients between each of the four C -test texts and the TOEFL. Thus, text difficulty did not affect the validity of the C - test texts in this study. The reliabilities of the C - test texts were estimated through the application of KR - 21 formoula reliability. Moreover, the reliability of the whole C - test was calculated separately using Cronbach's Alpha. The results showed that the text difficulty had no influence on the reliability of C - test texts..
