Summary or Abstract : A long - lasting scourge some theorists and language teachers alike have been grappling with is the apparently unwitting lack of proper attention to lexicon. While lexicon is traditionally regarded as one of the three imperative elemens of language learning, the other two being phonology and syntax, it has often been taken for granted. This miasma still keeps on reigning in traditionally - based language courses, like those taken in our secondary and tertiary schools as well as few language institutes. These tedious courses tend to be organized around a set of grammatical points or better still outlandish terminology, to be regarded as the " knowledge " of language itself, with vocabulary selected to support the topic of each course unit. However,an emphasis on the glamorous magic of lexicon plus a deliberate consideration of the integration of grammar and vocabulary, as avowed in chomskyan UG couched in terms of the Perjection Principle, is no meager point to be turned a blind eye to and no penchant for hyperbole. Significance of this problem is tantamount to the cruciality of learning a language, hence the overemphasis on the vitality of a rich word stock and attempts made in ameliorating the students' store of vocabulary..
