در این تحقیق به دو جنبه محتوایی / فلسفی و ساختاری نمایشنامه " در انتظار گودو " پرداخته شده است و اهمیت ساختار در ارائه و انتقال محتوا به خواننده / بیننده نشان داده شده است. یافته‌های این تحقیق نشان می دهند که گرچه در این تحقیق به هر دو جنبه ساختاری و محتوایی اثر توجه شده است و هدف اصلی محقق از کار روی نمایشنامه " در انتظار گودو " که بی شک موثرترین نمایشنامه در مکتب نمایش معنا باختگی است ، بیشتر روی جنبه محتوایی بوده تا نظر کردی کلی بر نقش آدمی و جایگاه او در جهان معناباخته معاصر داشته باشد و همچنین خواست و تمایل انسان درمانده امروز را در ماندگاری درمان ناپذیرش در معنا باختگی پیرامون که دست آورد خود اوست به نقد بنشیند

As Waiting for Godot was composed about half a cenury ago, some might find the term "modern man", as applied to the characters of the play or to the general concept of mankind represented in the play, very unbecoming and hence absurd. Yet, to me, it doesn't appear to be so. Firstly, because the universality of the play, which is avidently acknowledged, proves its applicability to the all men at all times in all places and so the span of less than fifty years must not have changed the, especially, philosophical and existential concerns of man. Secondly, in this part of yhe world where we live yhe pace of life is so slow that it is not strange at all to behold yourself in the mirror of play which was written around fifty years ago on the other side of the world where the speedy progress has made their intellectuals move ahead of time especially during the last three centuries. The correspondence beyween the fictional world of the play and our modern world is so manifestly relized that in order to refer to the general concept of making portrayed in the play I do not feel hesitated to use the term "modern man"..
