Summary or Abstract : As a component to the focus on what teachers can do to aid listening comprehension in instructional settings, there has been a parallel but independent emphasis on what listeners do while comprehending. In the regard, the present study aimed at investigating the effect of the use of real and perceived strategies in the listaning comprehension of Iranian EFL Learners. To answer the questions of this study a null hypothesis was proposed: - There is no significant difference between the listening performance of those listeners who perceive that they use effective comprehension strategies and that of those who do not. Results revealed a statistically significant difference between the means of the groups in the L.C task and in the self - report strategies thus rejecting the null hypothesis .001 level of significance..
