.میشل فوکو فیلسوف و نظریه پرداز مشهور فرانسوی، در آثار خود " قدرت " را از دیدگاه فلسفه مدرن بررسی می نماید. او معتقد است که قدرت به یک منبع خاصی محدود نمی سود بلکه " از همه جا وهمه چیز ناشی شده و همه چیز را در بر می گیرد " و ابزارهای مختلفی در جوامع وجود دارد که فرد بمنظور اعمال قدرت خود بر دیگری و یا خنثی کردن تجاوز دیگری به آنها متوسل می شود. فوکو معتقد است که قدرت تنها در جامعه معنی پیدا می کند و تعریف آن در خلع بی مفهوم بنظر می رسد
