Summary or Abstract : The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the performance of students exposed to consciousness - raising dictogloss tasks differs significantly from those who are not. Four calsses of upper - intermediate EFL female learners in Shiva language institue were chosen. To make sure about the homogeneity of the groups, they were given a grammar proficiency test. Two of the classes were considered as the experimental groups and the other two classes as the control groups. The control group was exposed to material in their text book( New Headway Upper Intermediate), but the experimental group, in addition to their own book, was also given consiousness - raising dictoglos tasks for 15 times during the term. 15 original passages, in which the target structures were used several times, were performed for giving dictation to focus learners' attention on specific forms of language. Having felt that the dictated passages had been well understood, the researcher asked the learners to reaconstruct a version of the text cooperatively. Then a copy of the original text was given to each group of three learners to compare their versions with the original text. At the end of the term both groups were tested by a cloze and a recognition test to investigate learners' performance on participles. The result showed that the performance of students exposed to conciousness - raising dictogloss tasks differed significantly from those who were not as far as their performance in a cloze test and in a recognition test was concerned..
