.این تحقیق تلاشی است در جهت ارائه تعریفی از ادبیات پسامدرن و تحقیق در علل و عوامل موثر در پیدایش آن. این تحقیق علاوه بر مشخصات و ویژگیهای منحصر به فرد ادبیات پسامدرن به سوالات زیر پاسخ می دهد که عبارتند از: - آیا پسامدرنیسم پدیده‌ای است متمایز و با اهمیت، یا صرفا مدی است گذرا؟ رابطه آن با مدرنیسم چیست؟ آیا این پدیده به دوره زمانی خاصی تعلق دارد، یا الگویی است عام که در هر دوره‌ای از تاریخ می توان آن را یافت؟ آیا صرف پسامدرن بودن یک اثر به آن ارزشی می بخشد؟ بررسی موردی انجام شده در این تحقیق به خوبی آشکار می سازد که پسامدرنیسم پدیده‌ای است منحصر به فرد، با مرزهایی مشخص و متمایز از سایر پدیده‌ها، از جمله مدرنیسم. اگر چه برخی از ویژگیهای آن را بطور پراکنده و موردی از دوره‌های پیشین می توان یافت. در مجموع پسامدرنیسم به طور مستقیم حاصل شرایط نوظهوری است که پس از جنگ جهانی دوم به وجود آمده و این نکته‌ایست که غالبا در کشورهایی که خود بلاواسطه این شرایط را به طور کامل تجربه نکرده‌اند مورد غفلت قرار می گیرد

Postmodernism has been a key concept of humanities after the World War II. After is apperance, this term has attracted attention increasingly each year after another. For this purpose, I have chosen the White Noise, by the American auther Don Delillo. This book, Delillo's highly acclaimed ninth novel and a winner of the prominent National Book Award, is very suitable for getting to grips with postmoderism. it is fact a patchwork in which different aspects of postmodernism are depicted. The story of the novel is narrated by jack Glandney, Professor of Hitler studies at the College on the hill in a town called Blacksmith. Jack's voice and ideas, together with those of a number of other characters, icluding the members of his family , his friend Murray Jay Siskind, his colleagues and his neighbors, woven together reresenr and interesting picture of postmodernism..
