: This study investigates how University students of English Translation in Iran learn and translate vocabulary items and colloquial expressions with authentic subtitled video. The sample population of this study were divided into 3 groups each watching the movie in one mode: English subtitles (Bimodal Exposure), Persian subtitles (Reversed Exposure) and without subtitles (Conventional Exposure). All 3 groups watched the movie twice, once the complete version and once a 30-minute version. A questionnaire was designed and administered before and after the exposure (one week later) in order to check the effect of watching movies with subtitles and without subtitles and to examine which of the 2 modes of subtitles (Persian or English) is of more effect on the subjectsب learning and translating behavior. Data Analysis was performed in 2 modes: overall analysis and item analysis in the former, the mean and Standard Deviation were calculated, and in the latter, all of the items in the questionnaire were compared and contrasted in all groups. The results of the overall analysis demonstrated that all 3 groups had promotion in their post-test, while the Reversed Group proved to be the best of 3 groups regarding mean and standard deviation. On the other hand, the second position was occupied by the Conventional Group and finally the last rank was filled by the Bimodal Group. Of course, it should be noted that the difference between the Bimodal and Conventional Groups was not too significant and the results of these two groups were relatively similar to each other in terms of effectiveness. The findings of item analysis, on the other hand, were a little different. Of course the superiority of Reversed Group remained constant in this mode as well but the difference was in the position of Bimodal and Conventional Groups in the ranking which was the opposite point of the overall analysis i.e. the Bimodal Group stood at the second rank, while the Conventional fell in the third position..
