: The purpose of this study was to make a comparison between the Persian text of the works of Sadeq Hedayat and the English translations selected and edited by B. Spooner, and to identify and scrutinize the translation of culture-bound items. Research questions focused on the existence of translation strategies the translator(s) employ to translate culture-specific items, the frequency/abundance of such strategies, and whether or not domestication is the most frequent strategy. Development of the study included the analysis of an approximate- 20000- word translation analysis employing Word Analysis, Phrase Analysis, Components Analysis, and Confirmatory Analysis for goodness-of-fit. Study results confirmed goodness-of-fit for the proposed conceptual hypothesis of strategy use. Items spotted had varying degrees of relation to the use of strategies, with Newmark's functional equivalent; Baker's using a more neutral word; Aixela's attenuation and absolute universalization; and Hervey's cultural transplantation holding the highest degree of relation. Research findings suggested that the majority of translators had very positive attitudes towards domestication. Given increased emphasis on identified results, university translator training programs have the potential to improve quality training throughout their preparation programs.
