In the 21st century that the political relations are quite central to nations, it is of utmost importance that this channel, politics, be used optimally in order to bring prosperity to nations. Translation is one of the means to be dealing with politics directly and any manipulation of which can have direct effect on the relations between countries so it should be used at the service of good relations. In this case for translating politics, collocation is one of those linguistic concepts that, like metaphors, takes shrewd eyes to translate. The journals, periodicals and whatsoever incorporating political texts and notions in Iran as other countries have also been a place for translating political texts in a way which misleads the readership instead of advising them.In case the research yields the intended aim, it could be asserted that some areas of pitfalls can be marked for the translators coping with collocations in political texts. For this purpose, the researcher has tried to demark the areas that translators could make mistakes in translating collocation in politics. So some questions are asked as the questions of the study. To provide answers to the previous questions, data were gathered by administering 30 cases of collocations from the native news agencies whose names are as follow: BBCNEWS.COM, CNNNEWS.COM, ASSOCIATEDPRESS.COM, REUTER and WASHINGTONPOST.COM and their translations by 20 M.A. students. From the 30 aforementioned collocations (Political ) given to the translation trainees and the analysis of their translations ,a key conclusion was drawn as follows: In many cases of translating political collocations, the failure to carry over the true content to the TL was caused because one of the collocates had been used in the secondary (figurative) sense but the translator had not succeeded in realizing the matter and had taken the primary sense of the collocate for the secondary one.
