: One of the impacts of the event postcolonialism is on literature and the evidences of this event in postcolonial texts, written by postcolonial authors are postcolonial elements. One type of postcolonial texts is Indian- American works which bear significant postcolonial elements and one of the prominent figures in this regard is the Indian- American author, Jhumpa Lahiri. The main concern of this study was to detect these elements in Jhumpa Lahiri's short stories and to investigate the most frequently used translation method (domestication or foreignization method, as defined by Venuti) applied by Persian translators. Hence, six of her short stories with two Persian translations for each were selected and almost 200000 words were analyzed manually at the levels of word to sentence to find the significant postcolonial elements. Then, there was an attempt to examine the translation methods applied in translating each item and to record the frequency of occurrence of each method. The results indicated that there was no significant difference between the frequency of domestication and foreignization in Persian translations of postcolonial elements in this study. Furthermore, Persian translators have sometimes applied neither domestication, nor foreignization method, but they have turned to some other strategies such as literal translation, deletion, etc. which are included in the third method called neutralization in this research, implying that Venuti's translation methods are not dichotomous. It was concluded that the translation method applied was not particular to one translator or the other, but that it depended on that case in translation, in this research. Another conclusion was that translation could be sometimes foreignized, sometimes domesticated and in some cases even neutralized..
