: Translation as a social activity, can never be considered as neutral or value free, out of a social context. The dominant ideologies and norms of a community would reflect in its translations. When a new ideology becomes dominant in a society, it establishes new norms and values to maintain its power. The aim of this study was to show whether the changes in the dominant ideology in a society, would change the way translated texts are manipulated in that community. The present study was located within the framework of Manipulation Hypothesis which claims that "from the point of view of the target literature all translation implies a degree of manipulation of the source text for a certain purpose" (Hermans, 1985; p. 11). There are some cases in which translations are manipulated deliberately for some specific reasons. These are called Ideological Manipulations which could refer to "any interference with the text, be it cultural, religious, or political, imposing modifications that are not textual constraints, for the purpose of indoctrination" (Nitsa, 2000; p. 43).In an attempt to find the answer to the research questions of the study, concerning the frequency of adopting different types of ideological manipulation, and manipulating different subject matters, the English novels and their Persian translations were compared line by line. The results of these comparisons show that there are considerable changes in the dominant types of Ideological manipulation and the most frequently manipulated subjects before and after the Islamic Revolution. It could be concluded that the ways of manipulating a translation would change considerably when the dominant ideologies of a society change..
