This dissertation explores how to increase the effectiveness of sexually transmitted disease (STD) prevention programs for young adolescents. A review of literature explores adolescent development and the developmental tasks and sexual vulnerabilities adolescents face today. This study explores the major theories guiding the development of prevention programs, identifies factors that collectively contribute to effective prevention among adolescents, and investigates a few effective STD prevention programs already in use..
