Title and statement of responsibility : Why do we kiss? An evolutionary perspective [Thesis]
Language of the Item : eng
Summary or Abstract : A series of six studies was conducted in an attempt to make inferences about the evolutionary significance of human kissing. Some fifteen hundred university students responded to six written questionnaires that examined self-reports of kissing with respect to various romantic and sexual situations. Intriguing differences emerged between the kissing attitudes, intentions, behaviors, and attributions of men and women, as did differences with respect to kissing in long-term, committed relationships and in shortterm, "one-night stand" relationships. Results also showed that various kiss types (closed mouth, open mouth, and tongue or "French kiss") appear to serve specific emotional and sexual purposes..
