Summary or Abstract : This study established a framework for understanding intuition research in psychology. It was found that definitions for intuition in psychology are all influenced by three major factors, orientation, zeitgeist and emphasis of work. Thus, the forty-four existing definitions for intuition in psychology were grouped together according to psychological orientation. Each version of intuition was organized and considered using a time-line approach, where the concomitant zeitgeist accounted for partial influence on each definition. Finally, intuition was considered within its originating body of research, as emphasis of work was a significant factor in establishing a thorough understanding of each distinctive definition..
