Summary or Abstract : Despite a recent resurgence in scholarly interest in religion and spirituality within the field of psychology, these areas appear to remain relatively neglected within the training provided by psychology doctoral programs. Recent surveys within counseling psychology (Young et al., 2002; Schulte et al., 2002) have indicated a need to fill certain gaps that persist in the training offered by departments on religious and spiritual (R/S) issues, but these surveys were limited by relying exclusively on the viewpoints of program training directors. The present study therefore surveys counseling psychology doctoral students' perceptions ( N = 207) regarding the extent of the religious and spiritual training offered in their departments, as well as their satisfaction with said training. These constructs are then explored in relationship to students' own religiousness and spirituality. The results suggest that while students' personal religiousness and spirituality are related to their satisfaction with their R/S training, students' personal religiousness and spirituality are not related to the perceived extent of their training. Perceived extent of training, in turn, was an even more robust predictor of satisfaction than students' personal religiousness and spirituality..
