Summary or Abstract : This qualitative research project demonstrates the significance of the intersections of curriculum and feminist theory for Christian Education. This interdisciplinary discussion includes the particular vocabularies and perspectives of the fields of curriculum theory, feminist theory, Christian education and ethnography. The research begins by defining the feminist themes of voice, selfhood and community as described by Janet L. Miller, a curriculum theorist. Theological reflection of these themes occurs within the context of the work three feminist theologians: Rebecca Chopp, Carol Lakey Hess and Mary Elizabeth Moore. These themes provide the framework for further exploration using ethnographic interviews with Isabel W. Rogers, Professor of Applied Christianity, Presbyterian School of Christian Education (1961-1997) and Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education (1997-1998). Documentation of these in-depth interviews reveals Rogers's definitions of the stated three themes and their presence in her teaching theory and practice. Interpretation and analysis of the data utilizes a gendered analysis of curriculum theory. The themes of voice, selfhood and community emerge as a framework for gender analysis of curriculum theory in Christian Education..
