Summary or Abstract
:
"At-risk" adolescents share a preponderance of failure prone behaviors tending to preclude successful high school graduation. When referred to an alternative high school, it is under the assumption that this is their "last chance." The alternative high school core curriculum was integrated with the applied component of a character education curriculum into all learning, community service, and "Connection" meeting activities. It was believed that this would further moral, pro-social, and cognitive development beyond maturational expectations suggested in cognitive development theories..
