Summary or Abstract : The Individuals with Disabilities Act of 1997 emphasized instruction of individuals with disabilities in the general education curriculum. Over 51 of students with E/BD receive services in the general education classroom. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of an intervention package on the mathematics achievement of students with emotional or behavioral disorders (E/BD), the attitudes of these students towards participation in the general education classroom, and the attitudes of general education teachers towards the integration of students with E/BD into their classrooms. Three special education teachers and nine general education teachers from three elementary schools in two school districts participated in the study. Ten students with E/BD in grades three through five whose primary placement was in a self-contained classroom participated in the study and were integrated into grade appropriate general education classrooms for mathematics instruction. General education teachers identified 10 low-to-average achieving students without disabilities to serve as comparison students..
