Summary or Abstract : In 2000, the Province of Alberta implemented a new Physical Education (PE) Program of Studies. This new curriculum aims to help students create active living lifestyles and increase understandings of the health-related benefits of physical activity. Due to the newness of the 2000 Physical Education curriculum, the extent to which this PE program is helping students attain the mandated aim and learning outcomes is not known. As a result, this research investigated PE teachers' perceptions of how content, teaching methods, assessment and evaluation methods, and student attainment of learning outcomes in Physical Education programs in Calgary area schools have been affected, if at all, as a consequence of implementing the 2000 PE Program of Studies..
