Despite a significant investment in school drug prevention programs, adolescent drug use has not significantly declined. Studies focusing on school prevention initiatives indicate that part of the problem is that school systems have not selected effective research-based curricula.purpose of this study was to examine the set of factors identified by the literature that appear to facilitate or inhibit the selection of effective school alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention curricula. Data on influential factors in curriculum selection were collected by means of a structured telephone interview of health education coordinators in Massachusetts public school systems (n = 182)..
