Summary or Abstract : This thesis is about the reasons behind the Jordanian Ministry of Education's failure to fully implement its music curriculum plan in its public schools. In its attempt to look for the reasons, this thesis focuses on three main issues. First, it identifies and explains possible problems associated with the current music curriculum plan. Second, it examines the main challenges that face Jordanian music policy-makers as they develop new music curriculum plans for the Jordanian public schools. Moreover, it endeavors to find out how these plans fit in the apparatus of government policy-making. Finally, the thesis concludes by exploring ways to enhance classical music education in Jordan by tackling the biggest challenge facing the field: the low level of musical awareness among its publics.
