Summary or Abstract : The purpose of this study was to investigate factors influencing the design, administration, and implementation of an orientation for online distance education students. Furthermore, this study sought to identify institutional and individual program practices related to orientation. These practices included whether to require an orientation, the delivery format of the orientation, and the logistical evaluation of an orientation for online students. This study was conducted within three institutions providing online distance education located in the United States.
