Summary or Abstract : Purpose . The purpose of this study was to examine the perspectives of high school students with learning disabilities (LD) with regard to their involvement in the planning and implementation of their special education programs and services as mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Despite the growth of special education programming intended to meet the needs of LD students, students with learning disabilities have lower graduation rates, higher rates of unemployment, perform less well in post-secondary studies, and live less independently than non-disabled students..
