Summary or Abstract : Ninety-seven economically disadvantaged, inner-city African-American (n = 70) and Latina (n = 27) adolescent mothers (mean age = 17.6 years) were included in this study which explored how causal factors within their cultural ecology interact in unique ways to shape two outcomes of interest: the teen mothers' educational expectations and their educational track. These two outcomes were analyzed with a technique developed by Charles Ragin and colleagues, and known as Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA). QCA permitted identification of the varied paths leading to these adolescent mothers' educational decision-making, while considering all possible combinations of independent factors..
