Little is known about how depression is defined and explained from a Thai perspective. A phenomenological research was used to describe elderly Thai immigrants' perceptions of depression. A convenience sample of 10 male and 10 female elderly Thai participants, from 60 to 84 years of age, was interviewed. Interviews were audio-taped and transcribed in the Thai language.
