Summary or Abstract
:
This quantitative study examined variables predicting adherence to the treatment of depression among eighty-two health maintenance organization subjects who had been identified with a diagnosis of depressive disorder using The D-Arkansas Scale, and who had participated in a brief psychoeducational intervention for depression that was led by a licensed mental health provider. Predictors of adherence included age, gender, education, ethnicity, level of depression, and source of referral to the intervention. Results demonstrated higher levels of education among those who received follow-up treatment after the intervention, compared to those who did not follow up with further treatment.
