Summary or Abstract
|

|
Clinical observations of back-injured workers indicated patients with similar medical diagnoses recovered and returned to work at different rates. Of concern to nursing in this investigation was how the influences of pain, depression, family support, and selected sociodemographic variables affected the length of work absence in patients with uncomplicated back injuries. For workers who returned to work it was of significance to nursing to find out which element positively related to a return to work. The purpose of this investigation was to identify the relationships and differences between the variables of length of work absence and perceived levels of pain, perceived levels of depression, perceived levels of family support, and selected sociodemographic variables in males with uncomplicated back injury..
