Summary or Abstract : Online education is a means of sharing information and instruction asynchronously, and an increasing number of institutions are offering online education as well as Web-enhanced courses. The study explored perceptions of chancellors and presidents towards online education. The exploration of chancellors' and presidents' perceptions of online education addressed the issues of strategic planning, allocation of resources, teaching and learning, and the need to address stakeholders' perceptions of online education. A Web based survey was administered to a sample of chancellors and presidents from Carnegie listed institutions regarding their perceptions of online education, using quantitative statistical analysis. The study resulted in a large-scale description of their perceptions of online education and online educations impact on teaching and learning..
