Summary or Abstract : This qualitative study examines the socialization and professional development of four adult educators teaching within a unique program designed for students' personal, professional, and spiritual growth. It seeks to understand the complex manner through which these educators have learned to teach within the field of personal development. This research also considers the development of teachers who have not received any formal teacher preparation---and explores their professional learning in the context of educating for the development of the whole person; mind, body, and spirit. Two broad themes emerged from the teachers' accounts, each related to the progressive realization of authenticity and engagement in their professional identities and pedagogical practices. It is expected that these findings will inform future teacher education and training initiatives at the research site---and encourage researchers and practitioners to contemplate how we might build a multi-dimensional perspective for theory and praxis in educators' professional development..
