The purpose of this study was to investigate specific teaching behaviors that may influence a student's decision to engage in acts of academic dishonesty in higher education. In addition, the study attempted to identify teaching behaviors that may effectively discourage student cheating. Responses to two survey instruments, completed by 68 faculty respondents and 274 student respondents attending a small, private university in the southeast United States during the spring semester of 2004, were the basis for the data analyses of this study..
