Summary or Abstract : Scope and method of study . The purpose of this study was to determine if National Board Certification makes a difference in student success in this state's Career and Technology Centers. Eighteen Business and Information Technology Education teachers participated in this study. Nine were Board certified and nine were eligible for certification but had not pursued it. Classroom observations were conducted using the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood/Career and Technical Education Scoring Guide. The researcher-designed Exemplary Teacher Survey was used to collect demographic data and perceptions of teaching methodologies from the participants. Aggregate completer rates and placement rates for the academic year 2002/2003 provided outcomes from the Career and Technology Education students enrolled in Business and Information Technology Education..
