Summary or Abstract : This research study used a quantitative method to examine one factor contributing to teacher attrition; namely, teachers' perceptions of their principals' personalities. The examination also determined whether teacher job satisfaction varies based on the personality type of the teacher's principal. Job satisfaction and principal personality type were the key factors evaluated in this study. The True Colors Personality Profile (TCPP) and a job-satisfaction magnitude scale were submitted during faculty and grade-level meetings to 212 teachers and five principals in five middle schools of a rural southeastern county located in North Carolina. Based on this population of middle school teachers, there was insufficient evidence to indicate that teacher job satisfaction was significantly affected by how the teachers perceived their principal's personality.
