Summary or Abstract : The purpose of this study was to understand, within a theory-practice framework, teachers' perceptions on the relationship between educational philosophies and theories studied in teacher education colleges and subsequent educational practices of private school early childhood teachers in New Delhi. The study was framed by socio-cultural-historical constructivist and postcolonial theories.Using qualitative inquiry, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, surveys, observations and review of documents. Participants included private school early childhood teachers, school principals and teacher educators in New Delhi. The collected data were coded, analyzed and organized into categories that reflected the participants' perceptions of teacher preparation and practice..
