Christian liberal arts colleges have made a unique contribution to American history and culture, and have helped shape the development of higher education in America. Within the context of the Christian liberal arts college historically, this study examined the philosophy of education of Dennis F. Kinlaw during his eighteen years as president of Asbury College, a four-year independent Christian liberal arts institution located in Wilmore, Kentucky. The Kinlaw administration reflected a philosophy closely associated with that of the original American liberal arts college..
