Summary or Abstract : This work explores the concept of pluralism as it relates to socialization in a complex democracy and as it relates to individual human beings symbolizing their worlds. The philosophic abstraction begins by relating the concept, 'Democracy would lose its very identity without pluralism', to the political symbol, 'E pluribus unum'. To the extent that society eliminates cultural differences, it becomes totalitarian and non-democratic. Due to vast demographic differences, the United States has a rich base of linguistic resources which could be and should be incorporated into educational philosophy, the praxis of theory and practice..
